Class 2 E-BIKE REGULATIONS

Class 2 Electric Bike Compliance Notice

Pursuant to California Vehicle Code (CVC §312.5), a Class 2 electric bicycle is defined as a bicycle equipped with a motor that may be used exclusively to propel the bicycle and is not capable of providing assistance when the bicycle reaches a speed of 20 miles per hour. The motor must not exceed 750 watts of power.

The electric bicycles designated as “Class 2” on this website are manufactured and configured to meet the above requirements at the time of sale. These bicycles are compliant with California’s electric bicycle classification standards when operated in their original factory settings.

Important Compliance Information:

  • Throttle Limitation: Motor power alone must not propel the bicycle beyond 20 mph.

  • Power Output: Motor wattage must not exceed 750 watts.

  • Modification Restrictions: Any modification that increases maximum throttle speed beyond 20 mph or increases motor output beyond 750 watts may reclassify the bicycle under California law and could subject the vehicle to registration, licensing, insurance, or other regulatory requirements.

  • Labeling: Class 2 bicycles are required under California law to bear a permanent label indicating classification, top assisted speed, and motor wattage.

While these bicycles are compliant with California law at the time of sale, electric bicycle laws vary by state and municipality. Customers outside of California are responsible for verifying and complying with applicable local regulations regarding e-bike classification, permitted use areas, helmet requirements, age restrictions, and roadway access.

Improper modification or operation outside of the Class 2 definition may result in the vehicle no longer being legally recognized as an electric bicycle. Riders are solely responsible for ensuring lawful operation within their jurisdiction.

Always operate responsibly and confirm that your intended use aligns with state and local regulations.

Cool Stylish BMX/Cruiser

So far, I’m really enjoying this bike. The 350 provides plenty of power for those moments when you’re tired of pedaling and just want to cruise comfortably.

My only criticism is that the pedal assist system didn’t feel very intuitive. Adjusting the assist levels on the controller didn’t seem to make much of a noticeable difference. That said, I chose to unplug the pedal assist and now ride using pedal power and throttle only, which has been a great experience for me.

I’ve taken it on several group rides, averaging between 20–24 miles per ride, and typically finish with about half the battery remaining. Overall, I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone looking for a cool BMX-style cruiser. If speed is your main priority, though, I’d suggest going with the 750 model instead.

Good bike so far

My kid has been loving it. Keeping it charged has been a problem but will probably buy a spare battery.
